The Bonner County Commissioners (BOCC) recently voted to replace the Planning and Zoning Commission with two separate commissions. One Planning and One zoning. That move was in reaction to the code amendment application filed by KBCR to firm up code language that has allowed the BOCC to rubber-stamp a continuous stream of density increases for developers.
Having two separate commissions will allow the zoning commission to concentrate on passing more density increases throughout the county, paving the way for developers.
The claim is that the Planning and Zoning Commission has no time to work on updating the Comprehensive Plan because they are too busy with zone changes and comprehensive plan amendments. That much is true. I believe the better fix is to stop rubber-stamping applications for density increases for individual property owners.
